I received a BS in biology from SUNY Plattsburgh and an MS in education from LIU. After 35 years, I retired from teaching high school and college biology. I took up drawing with graphite as a new hobby after retirement and then progressed to archival ink tangle art and then watercolor.
I use a few different mediums in the types of art I do, such as graphite, archival ink, and watercolors. I tend to like a realistic style of drawing and painting, but I also enjoy doing tangle/doodle tiles which tend to be abstract. I take photographs while on a hike, kayaking, or sitting in nature and use these to design an original pie

I tend to like a realistic style of drawing and painting, but I also enjoy doing tangle/doodle tiles which tend to be abstract. I take photographs while on a hike, kayaking, or sitting in nature and use these to design an original piece of art. Sometimes several photos end up being merged into one painting. I spent thousands of hours in the woods behind our house exploring nooks and crannies of the forest and the brooks running through them. It is one of the reasons I became a biologist. The goal of my art is to realistically capture the beauty of something that has captivated me. I would like the viewer to feel transported to a place or a memory as a result of what I have painted.
Starting the next boathouse - in the drawing stage. The video is just of the doors. being measured and drawn to the scale of what the painting will be.
This is the how the painting came together.
Done and passed on to its owner. He loved it. He is mailing the 3 prints I had made to accompany the original to his brothers as a surprise....SO exciting
The milk house, far wall, foundation,
and the start of the lawn were done today.
Today's progress included the roof and one side of the barn.
Today the sky, background mountains, cornfield, tree and road were started.
This is my next project. It is a commission from a gentleman that grew up on this farm and wants a painting of it. Finished the sketching this morning - took 11.5 hours to get all those lines in the right places...ugh
